Welcome Back - Please Read

Welcome Back Cava Families! 

 

I hope you had a fabulous break!  My hope is that you are all rested and ready to hit the ground running!  We are getting very close to the end of the semester and there are lots of ground to cover!  Please review the checklist below to ensure you have covered all necessary requirements. 

 

·         Quarter 2 Work Samples DUE: If you are scheduled to meet with me this week, please have ALL pieces of work samples with you.  Please review the attached checklist to ensure you have everything you need.

o   ALL PAGES OF EACH WORK SAMPLE MUST INCLUDE (ON THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER):

§  First and Last Name

§  Date of assignment (MUST MATCH THE DATE ON THE ONLINE SCHOOLS)

§  Subject

§  UNIT/LESSON NUMBER

§  LEARNING COACH’S GRADE

§  PAGE NUMBERS (pg 1 of 2 – Each page counts as 1 pg, not pg 1 for the front and pg 2 for the back)

 

·         Additional Required Assignments: Please review your assignment sheet (given to you at our first meeting) to ensure that the additional required assignments have been completed.  I’d like to reiterate that these are NOT more assignments but just additional pieces of work I will collect.

 

o   6th Grade:

o   Math:  Semester Assessment: January 17, 2013 (or print out if completed by our in person meeting)

o   LA: Persuasive Essay (Unit 4 Lesson 9): was due December 10, 2012 (can bring to our in person meeting)

o   History: Writing About the Past (Unit 5 Lesson 2): was due December 10, 2012 (can bring to our in person meeting)

o   7th Grade:

o   Math: Semester Assessment: January 17, 2013 (if completed by our in person meeting, please print out and include with samples)

o   LA: Propagandist Essay (Unit 6 Lesson 5): was due December 10, 2012 (can bring to our in person meeting)

o   History: Writing from Research(Unit 8  Lesson 1 ): January 14, 2012 (can bring to our in person meeting)

o   8th  Grade:

o   Math: Semester Assessment: January 17, 2013 (if completed by our in person meeting, please print out and include with samples)

o   LA: Argument Essay (Unit 3 Lesson 7): was due December 10, 2012 (can bring to our in person meeting)

o   History: Taking A Position (Unit 5 Lesson 5): was due December 10, 2012 (can bring to our in person meeting)

 

·         PE LOGS: These logs need to be updated up until the last week of the quarter.  Please ensure that the minimum number of minutes are met.

o   10/23-11/2  Weeks 1 & 2, 9/days- 180min (3 hours)

o   11/5-11/16  Weeks 3 & 4, 9/days- 180min (3 hours)

o   11/26-12/7   Weeks 5 & 6, 10/days- 200min(3.5 hours)

o   12/10-12/19 Weeks 7 & 8, 8/days- 160min (3 hours)

o   1/7- 1/17      Weeks 9 & 10, 9/days- 180min (3 hours)

 

·         ATTENDANCE:  Please log in to the Online Schools to ensure your student’s attendance is up to date.  Reports will be run soon.  Please ensure also that attendance is not logged for any holiday or weekend (regardless if work was completed).

 

·         STUDY ISLAND:  Please remember that Study Island is NOT optional but required. Please view your blue ribbon trackers (attached) to ensure you are completed the ribbons assigned per subject each week.  Please also view the attached Middle School Grading Scale as that will be used to create the semester report cards.
