Things to do today - Reminder

End of the Semester Wrap-Up!

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Hello CAVA Families,

Well, we made it to the last day of semester 1!  Congratulations!  There are just a few quick reminders  below that you need to be aware of, as we head into next week.

TODAY:

·         Mark any completed lessons on the OLS—I am recording progress at 4:30pm today, so if your student wants credit for work this semester, today is the deadline.

·         Update any outstanding attendance.

·         Update PE logs for Quarter 2 (add week 10 and any missing PE).

·         Complete Blue Ribbons needed on Study Island (as assigned on your Assignment Sheet)

Non-Instructional Days-January 18-23

Please note this Friday, January 18th through next Wednesday, January 23rd, there will be no school for students.  You may log lessons on the online school if you wish, but please do not mark any attendance.  Also, teachers will not be available to answer phone calls or emails during this time.  School will resume on Thursday, January 24th

  Semester Dates

The last day of Quarter 2 / Semester 1 is TODAY, January 17th.  We will begin Semester 2 / Quarter 3 when we return to school on January 24th and it will run through March 29th.  As you begin Q3, be on the lookout for amazing work samples,  that will be collected once the semester is underway.  Remember, if you began CAVA on the first day of school, your progress goal, mid-year is 50%.

CAVA Grading Policy

Please see the attached document for the specifics of the middle school grading scale.

PE

Not Met-All required minutes were not met for both quarters

If you have any questions about grading, please feel free to ask.

Report Cards

I am currently working to prepare your child’s report card for semester one.  A copy of your child’s report card will be mailed to the CAVA office for placement in your child’s cumulative file and a copy will be mailed to you.  If you have a different mailing address than the one I have on file, please contact me right away so I can ensure your child’s report card is received.  You should be receiving your child’s report card by the last week of January.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Assignment Sheets

Since we are entering into a new quarter, you will soon be receiving your students Quarter 3 Assignment Sheet. You should receive this within 10 days of beginning the new quarter.  Remember to keep the Assignment Sheet in a safe and visible place to help you stay ‘on track’.  Review the assignments that should be completed during Quarter 3 with your student, as well as viewing your Q3 Study Island topics.  Some students may have additional assignments to complete during the quarter that have specific due dates.  Remember, in order to view the exact Unit and Lesson number, you will need to refer to your grade level Pacing Guides.  If you have any questions when you receive your Assignment Sheet, I am happy to review it with you.
