Team Louis (Cava's Christie Louis' Class): Algebra Intervention (for those signed up)

Hello Cava Families!

Below is very important information in regards to your student and the Algebra Intervention they have been signed up for (via your request). If your student is not signed up and you feel that they would benefit from an opportunity such as this, let me know and we can make that happen. Please note that if your student is signed up for this intervention opportunity, their attendance should be regular in order for it to be beneficial.

Algebra Intervention Courses Semester II

*Students can be added to any of the 4 below.*

*Students will be added to CLASS A and C by teacher request – please email me current requests for the beginning of semester 2*

*All students will be added to CLASS B and D – they can thus choose to attend or skip, based on whether or not they need the intervention on the given SI topic*

Tuesday/Thursday 8:30-9:30

CLASS A

Tuesday: Review weekly agenda for Algebra Curriculum according to OLS/Book work – Students who started in August and are struggling to keep up, but are keeping up

CLASS B

Thursday: Cover CURRENT Study Island topics, students who are keeping up with Blue Ribbons but are having a hard time.

Wednesday/Friday 8:30-9:30

CLASS C

Wednesday: Starting with Algebra from the BEGINNING – but moving through a week’s worth of curriculum in one session, to repeat skills students need or to catch struggling late-start students.

CLASS D

Friday: Continue with the current Study Island that I’ve been teaching – basically for those who are behind…starting semester two with the 7^th blue ribbon of the year (for students who didn’t earn all their Semester 1 blue ribbons/are behind/need the ribbons according to the agenda)

Sample Agenda:

CLASS A:

Semester 2, Week 1 8:30-9:30 1/28/13: Cover the 4 Algebra Lessons that students on task should be working through for the week according to their Algebra newsletters/OLS assignments. Use hours as a back-up/review, homework help, etc.

CLASS B:

Semester 2, Week 1 8:30-9:30 1/30/13: Cover the 16^th blue ribbon – quadratic equations 6a

CLASS C:

Semester 2, Week 1 8:30-9:30 1/29/2013: Cover the first 4 lessons in the Algebra book – recommended for students struggling in Algebra, who need repeated skills for STAR testing, or those who haven’t been mastering assessments on the first try.

CLASS D:

Semester 2, Week 1 8:30-9:30 1/31/2013: Pick up where Sem 1’s Study Island Intervention (which was Thursdays at 9:30, originally) left off – we are going to be starting with Points on a Line 4c – if all goes well this and next week. We will do one blue ribbon a week for those late start students or those students who are behind.

THUS, STUDENTS WHO ARE BEHIND IN STUDY ISLAND CAN ATTEND CLASS B AND D…AND DOUBLE UP ON THEIR BLUE RIBBONS UNTIL THEY ARE CAUGHT UP
