November has almost come and gone!!!
I wanted to wish you a wonderful break and hope you’re able to relax a bit. While your student is NOT required to work during the time off, it is highly recommended that they do take part in some assignments if they are behind in progress. By tomorrow (Friday, November 16th), progress should be at 35% in ALL subjects. If you do choose to have your student complete some work, please DO NOT mark attendance as again, it is NOT REQUIRED, just recommended. By getting ahead on assignments, your student’s work load will be that much easier upon our return.
I wanted to again offer some important information so that you too can ensure your student is up to date. Below I have provided some snapshots of various areas of the OLS (Online Schools) that inform you of your child’s current progress versus expected progress. In addition, please take note of the informative tabs (completed, not mastered, skipped) provided to you as well that may explain your student’s progress or the lack there of.
If you click on progress, you’ll see the page below.
If you’d like to view this information in “number of lessons” instead of “percentages”, you can look to the right of your screen, and you will see the screen below that gives you the option to “CHANGE PROGRESS VIEW OPTIONS”. Click all boxes that you’d like to apply.
If you click the box that says, “number of lessons” as well as “show projected end date”, you’ll see below:
To view more information as to the average lessons being completed and how many need to be done weekly in order to stay on track, you’ll click on “view progress details”.
To keep up to date on lessons and which have been completed, skipped, or not mastered, you’ll follow the steps below. Click on any of the subject headings. An example would be to click on “MS Algebra”
After doing so, it’ll bring you to the tabs as mentioned. If you click on any of the tabs, it will the lessons that were either completed, not mastered, not completed (haven’t showed up in OLS schedule yet), or skipped. If there are any lessons in the “not mastered” or “skipped” tabs, those NEED to be done. By not going back and checking this, can possibly explain the reason for low progress. If your student has any lesson in the “Not mastered” tab, this is usually because an assessment was not passed (has to be 80% or better) or was not completed in its entirety.
***YOUR STUDENT IS TO RETAKE THE ASSESSMENTS NOT MASTERED AFTER REVIEWING LESSON INFORMATION IN ORDER TO OBTAIN MASTERY.
I hope this information helps as we all want the best for our students. In order to do this, we MUST work as a team and ensure we keep on top of this. Thanks so much for all you do. Have a wonderful week!
