As we carry on throughout the year, it is very important to set academic goals for our students to have them work on and eventually, master. The goals that were set for quarter 1, I chose, and were based off of the students’ Scantron results (either math or reading).
For Quarter 2, I’d like to put some feelers out there and ask you as the Learning Coach where you feel the needs are for your students. As you are sitting down with your student throughout the day and working with them side by side, you are provided with that opportunity to observe where your child struggles and where they excel. That being said, please email me (clouis@caliva.org or kmail) 2 goals in which you feel would be beneficial for your student to work on this quarter. The goals that you set are those in which your child tends to struggle with and therefore, we make that a goal to improve on and later master. An example of a goal in Algebra could be, “Write an equation to solve a word problem involving ratios.” On the other hand, if it is easier for you to just let me know the subject your student struggles with most (including a specific lesson), that will work as well.
I have provided a couple of examples as to where you could find specific objectives that your child needs help in and therefore, would be a great goal!
If you are looking at your child’s OLS, you can click on the progress drop down above and it will provide you with the shot below.
Click on a specific subject (and example being Literature Analysis & Composition) and then click on “unit list”
***SIDE NOTE: If you notice that there are lessons in the “not mastered” tab, I’d choose objectives from there.
You will then see the different tabs, “objectives” being the focus. Click on “objectives”.
This will take you to each lesson’s objectives in that particular unit. If you see that is where your child struggles, you can choose a specific objective in that area.
I hope this helps. Please email me as soon as you can so that I can document these goals and we can work towards them as we collaborate back together after break.
Thank you!
