Math Boot Camp - Intervention Opportunity

 

Dear learning coaches,

The intervention team is excited to begin offering Math Boot Camps! These camps are designed for students who are struggling in a particular skill and need that added push to make them more confident in the session topic.  Each session lasts three weeks, and during those three weeks, students will receive intensive instruction for 30 minutes, 4 days per week. Groups are small to maximize student interaction and participation, and spots are given on a first come first served basis.

Students can sign up for one topic during each session, and we do ask that they participate consistently throughout the three week session. Regular attendance is imperative for student success. All classes are taught by our highly qualified math intervention specialists. If your student finds the class beneficial, they are welcome to sign up to participate in another topic in a future session.

The following session will be offered during the first session, beginning Nov 26 and run through Dec 13th.  

• Regrouping in Addition (taught by Sharon Chivers – 12:00 MTWTh)
• Regrouping in Subtraction (taught by Sharon Chivers – 12:30 MTWTh)
• Learning to Multiply (taught by Sharon Chivers – 1:00 MTWTh)
• Working with Exponents – Group 1 (with Roxanne Shapiro – 12:30 MTWTh)
• Working with Exponents – Group 2 (with Roxanne Shapiro – 9:00 TWThF)
• Multiplying & Dividing Fractions – Group 1 (with Roxanne Shapiro – 1:00 MTWTh)
• Multiplying & Dividing Fractions – Group 2 (with Roxanne Shapiro – 2:15 MTWTh)
• Solving for x – Group 1 (with Roxanne Shapiro – 1:45 MTWTh)
• Solving for x – Group 2 (with Roxanne Shapiro – 9:30 TWThF)

Are you excited about these sessions and ready to get your student started? To get your student involved in session 1, please fill out the survey linked below by Friday, November 16th.  You will be notified of your placement in the class by kmail and email, and the session will appear on your child’s class connect schedule. Remember, the first class is the day we return from break, November 26th!
