Reminders before the Thanksgiving Break

Why did the turkey cross the road??? ……(It was the chicken’s day off!!)

Greetings CAVA families!

Happy Friday to you all! Here are a few important reminders for you to take care of before signing off today.

Please take a moment and make sure you have entered your attendance for the week. Remember after three days of missing attendance, students are considered truant.  CAVA also has an attendance report to the state so it is crucial that all attendance is current and updated.

Are all of your assignments completed? Have you entered them and marked them complete?  There is an AVERAGE expectation of progress of 2-3% in the core subject areas. As always I encourage you to go to the student account and view progress, here you can look at the alerts, shown with an exclamation or you can view the snapshot, both of these are helpful to ensure you are on track. Keep in mind Math and Language Arts (all components) are the core curriculum

STOP if have not done the Study Island Custom assessments and remember to complete both Study Island assessments as soon as possible!   Math and Language Arts are the only ones you need to complete and these scores are used to assist you on the road to academic success.   Also, please make sure your students are earning their Blue Ribbons.

STOP if you have not completed Back-to-School Packet for the 2012-13 school year.  You should have received an email from School Pathways about two weeks ago with log in information.  In order to register, you will enter your email address and create a password.  The state of California requires the school to collect this information every year to ensure that it is accurate, and it also allows CAVA to apply for additional funds.

Please be sure you have gone to Cavaparent.org  to complete your P.E. logs and make sure they are up to date, 200 minutes for every ten days of school is 20 minutes per day. Please make sure you are current.

If you are behind in progress in any course (less than 35% if you started on August 16), the break time is a great time to catch up.  Focusing on those lessons in the Not Mastered tabs, completing science experiments and labs, working on an essay, or adding a few extra lessons on these days can help to bring that progress up and on track so you will complete the lessons assigned from your Semester 1 assignment sheet.  Please, however, remember not to mark any attendance time on those daysIf the box pops up requesting minutes, type “0”.

Again I thank you for all your time and efforts!  I appreciate all of those that have completed all of the above and are caught up on a daily basis. KUDOS to those with perfect attendance and those who have been making great progress!
