I just wanted to remind you that today is the LAST day of the quarter and therefore samples are due.  Please remember part of those samples is the additional writing piece.  Thank you to those who have already mailed them to me and those who have contacted me in regards to getting them to me.  If you have put these in the mail, please respond and inform me of doing so.

Hello CAVA Families,

 

I just wanted to send you a quick reminder that Monday, April 1^st (and this is no April Fool’s joke) is a teacher work day, non-student instructional day.  If you choose to have your child work in the OLS, please remember not to log attendance.

Re-Registration NOW OPEN - ALL NEED TO COMPLETE REGARDLESS IF RETURNING OR NOT :)

Dear CAVA Families,

This is just a friendly reminder that re-registration is now open.  If you have already completed this…thank you! J This is the time of year when we ask you to indicate your plans for the 2013–14 school year, so we can prepare for your student’s return. I’ve really enjoyed our time working together, and hope you will choose to re-register with California Virtual Academies.

 

It is important that you let us know what your intention is for the 2013–2014 school year.

 

 The process is easy and fast:

1. Log into the OLS: http://online.K12.com/login

2. Click on “My Info”

3. Follow the instructions under the “Registration” tab

 You can select from the following three options:

 

·         Yes, I am returning!

·         I am undecided at this time (you’ll have to make a final election)

·         No, we have other plans

Upcoming Dates to Remember

Warning – Spring Fever is in the Air! This is a reminder that CAVA students DO have school this week and next.  Our Spring break is not until Monday, April 15 and goes through April 19^th! Some family members and/or friends may have this week or next week off.  CAVA does not.  The following are important dates to keep in mind:

 

April 1, 2013                      Teacher Work Day (students do not have school this day)
April 15-19, 2013                Spring Break
May 27, 2013                      Memorial Day

June 11, 2013                      Last day of school

RE-REGISTRATION FOR ALL & 8th GRADE INTENT TO RETURN - 8th Grader famlies MUST RESPOND

Good afternoon Cava Families!

 

I wanted to inform you of the upcoming Re-registration for 8^th Graders that started this week.  Below I have attached some snapshots that will be help explain this process.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  We will be in touch as the time gets closer but wanted to inform you of this prior to the open enrollment dates.

 

***STEPS TO COMPLETING THE REGISTRATION – ALL MUST COMPLETE INTENT TO RETURN PORTION***

 

 

From your Parent OLS account, please Access your My Info tab. You will find this under the Help menu or in your Quick Links on your Home Page.

 

 

 

From your My Info Overview Page, look for the Register Now! button on the left-hand side of the screen. Click Go.

 

 

 

Please be aware that there are three steps to the Re-Registration process:

1. Registration Status: update your status (Registering, Non-Registering, or Undecided)

2. Compliances: Click to see the list of compliancy documents that you need to update. This will be tracked on this dashboard for your convenience.

3. Approval: Once your status has been updated and all compliancy documents received, your approval will be displayed here.

 

 

RE-REGISTRATION EXPLANATION

 

 

All statuses default to unknown. This is what you’ll see when you first click to update your status:

 

 

Families that set their status as Registering will see the following. Families with more than one student should click the box same to all your students? if this applies to all students in the family; leave this box unchecked if statuses will be different for each student.

 

 

Families choosing not to re-register for the coming school year will see the following screen. Please indicate where your child will be attending school in the coming school year. Also, please take a moment to fill out the short survey so that we can continue to improve our program.

 

 

Families that are Undecided will see the following screen. Thank you for updating your status to let us know that you are still considering your decision. In the meantime, we would like for you to fill out the short survey to give us information on the concerns that you have as that will help us to continue to improve our program. We will need you to update your status again, either to Registering or Not Registering, by June 21; all families with a status of Undecided or Not Registering will be withdrawn at the end of June.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ

Good morning Cava!

 

I just wanted to send out an email with some very important things/dates to remember.

 

PFT – Please be checking on Cava Parent to locate your student’s upcoming PFT.  Some of you have already completed this, however, ALL 7^th graders (only) will need to take this. Cava Parent has your student’s site, time, and date.  They are all coming up fast so please check!

 

CST – locations have been assigned to all students.  Please be checking Cava Parent for this as well.  Please mark on your calendars the date, time, and location for this.  Also, please have your student’s prepare for this by going over the CST released questions provided to you in a past email and also have your students continue working on their blue ribbons. 

 

****PLEASE NOTE….NOT EVERY STUDENT HAS THE SAME LOCATION, TIME, AND DATE*****

 

Work Samples – the end of the quarter is March 29^th (THIS FRIDAY).  Thank you to those who have already brought me or sent me your samples.  Much appreciated!  If you have not sent these, please do so ASAP.  Remember, I need ONE lesson for Math, Language (could include the required writing piece), Science, and History.  If you are in the Modesto area, I will be at the Barnes and Noble in Modesto today at 5:00pm for the Book Fair.  You can bring them there if you’d like.  If you’d like to mail them, they need to be in the mail no later than this Wednesday.

 

Attendance – I wanted to thank those families who have gone back in and updated attendance dated back to March 11^th.  GREAT JOB!  If attendance is not updated within 3 days of me notifying you, Cava will be sending out non-compliancy letters informing you of what needs to be done.  ATTENDANCE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN DAILY!  If your student is sick, please let me know so I can make note of that.  That being said, if your student has a PFT or an outing they are attending, school work can still be completed. 

 

*****PLEASE NOTE THAT CAVA IS SIMILAR TO A BRICK AND MORTAR SITE, THEREFORE, ATTENDANCE HOURS SHOULD EQUATE TO AT LEAST 4 HOURS A DAY.  I’VE NOTICED FAMILIES GIVING 3 MINUTES FOR A WHOLE DAY.  THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, UNLESS AGAIN, I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AS TO WHY LITTLE TIME HAS BEEN PUT IN.  ATTENDANCE WILL BE DELETED AND NOT COUNTED IF PROGRESS  IS NOT MADE ON THE ONLINE SCHOOLS.*****

 

Study Island – This site is a HUGE piece of your student’s grade and therefore, should be worked on daily.  Please be using your Blue Ribbon Tracker to keep track of what blue ribbons are assigned each week and those that have not been completed. 

 

*****   REMEMBER…..IN ORDER TO EARN AN A IN MATH OR LANGUAGE (FOR THE STUDY ISLAND COMPONENT)….STUDY ISLAND MUST HAVE 75% OF THEIR BLUE RIBBONS THAT QUARTER COMPLETED. **

Modesto Book Fair Coming Up

 

Happy Friday Families,

 

I hope all of you had a great learning week.  I just wanted to send a reminder about the book fair taking place this Monday, 3/25 in Modesto at Barnes and Noble.  We will have a read aloud with an activity to follow, a story writing area, and literacy games for the kids to play.  I have included the address for you below and hope to see you there.
