Welcome Back Parents, Learning Coaches and Students,
We are well into the 4th Quarter! I want you to know I recognize and appreciate all of the work and effort you are putting in! I know there have been bumps in the road, most families are doing great as far as attendance, now let’s check in with some housekeeping.
Have you completed the following?
Are all of your assignments mastered? Have you entered them and marked them complete?
This is the learning coaches responsibility to ensure your child is actively engaged, making continuous progress, and completing CAVA assigned lessons for 4-6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
è There is an AVERAGE expectation of progress of 10-12% (monthly) in the core subject areas, you should be at 80% by the END of this week. (3% weekly)
As always I encourage you to go to you student account and view progress, here you can look at the alerts, shown with an exclamation or you can view the snapshot, both tools are helpful to ensure you are on track. Keep in mind Math and Language Arts (all components) are the core curriculum.

Cavaparent.org- Here you should have all of your Quarter 4 P.E. logs up to date, 200 minutes for every ten days of school is 20 minutes per day. Please make sure you are current, this is your responsibility as the learning coach.
Study Island-Are your students earning your Blue Ribbons? Middle Schoolers, these ARE part of your grade. Travel to the Island and earn your ribbons, remember they help indicate when a student achieves mastery skills.
Something to remember, as part of your agreement and commitment to CAVA/K12, meeting your expected progress goals is very important, and staying on the track for success. In order for all of us to maintain this we must set the bar high and stay in check with our achievements. It is important that we view each and every week as a pathway to success, and thus completing our work at a rate of 2% minimum, with 3% being the standard for excellence.
Have you gathered your Quarter 4 work samples ? Remember, 1 sample from each core subject. I will be scheduling one more in-person meeting location for all of my locations. More information to come.
Has your student completed their assigned Quarter 4 Composition? If it is done, they mail email or mail it to me. I would LOVE to start reading them now!
Has your student completed, or at least started, their Science Investigation Unit (last unit in the course)? That lab is due to me in June.
Again I thank you for all your time and efforts, for all of you who have finished STAR testing, thank you for delivering your students to the testing sites promptly. FYI – be on the lookout for an email regarding the Spring Scantron Assessments. For all of those with perfect attendance BRAVO! And for those students who are at the mark for progress KUDOS.
