Good Morning,
STAR Testing is just around the corner! Please find your testing site information below and attached. Please read through everything carefully, and respond to this email so that I know you have received all the information.
Hello Families,
We look forward to seeing you at testing on Tuesday, April 9th, through Friday, April 12th.
Richmond Boys & Girls Club
2801 Moran Ave., Richmond 94804
Testing will begin at 9am. Please plan to arrive at 8:45am for sign in each morning of testing. Please do not arrive earlier as we will be setting up and will not be able to sign your student in. Students need to be signed in and out by an adult each day of testing. If someone other than the parent will be signing the student in/out or carpooling, or for older high school students who will be transporting themselves or taking public transportation, please complete the Drive to Site form (attached) and bring it the first day of testing.
The STAR testing is not timed but most students will finish between 11 and 12. Please be back at the testing site by 11:30am to pick up your child. Please also plan to leave a phone number at which we can reach you in case of emergency or if your child finishes before 11:30am.
What should we do to prepare for testing?
Before the test:
*review test taking strategies
*practice skills on Study Island
*take a practice test or look at sample questions that have been released at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/css05rtq.asp or http://starsamplequestions.org/starRTQ/search.jsp
*know where your testing site is and when you need to arrive
On the night before/day of test:
*get plenty of rest
*eat a healthy breakfast
*allow plenty of time for travel/traffic to arrive to site on time
What should my child bring?
*peanut-free snack
*bottled water
*a sweater/sweatshirt/jacket in case the testing room is cool
*a book to read or something quiet to do if he/she finishes early
*a phone number at which a teacher can reach you if your child finishes before the scheduled ending time
What should my child NOT bring?
*calculators
*hand-held gaming devices
*iPods, iPads, Kindles, etc.
*(If students have a cell phone this is ok but it will need to be turned off and held by a proctor during testing sessions)
If you have questions on the day of testing please contact Courtney Spriggs: 925-658-0509. If you have questions before then, please contact your regular teacher.
