checking in and finalizing

Good morning Cava Families!

As of today, I am in Dublin and no longer in Modesto, preparing for my move out of state.  I have received all samples that were sent as of last week.  Thank you for getting those to me.  I am meeting with admin tomorrow to turn in all samples that I have.  Please note that if I did not receive samples from either quarter 3 or 4, grades will be given accordingly.  Additionally, I will be printing out ALL PE logs for both quarter 3 and 4 today again.  This is all turned into admin tomorrow.  As I wrap this all up, I will be updating you on your child’s progress, attendance, etc.  At this point, please ensure your child is still working on their online school daily.  Cava expects the kiddos to work up until June 11 which is their last day.  Our goal at this point is for students to be up to 80% at least by the end of the year.  For those that started with Cava later, you too may be able to get to 80% considering all of the compacting that took place.

I wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to those who have had your children take the Scantron promptly.  This is something else Cava requires as a post assessment for the year.  For those that have not taken this yet, this needs to get done no later than TODAY.  Remember as mentioned in previous emails, the students are only taking READING and MATH…NOTHING else.  Please pay close attention to this as you don’t want to drain your kiddo out unnecessarily.

In regards to Study Island, please continue having them work on their blue ribbons until they’ve reached at least 75% which is an A for that portion of the report card….50% for a B.  I have attached the blue ribbon tracker again for convenience. If your student is not able to obtain a blue ribbon in an area due to the yellow triangle they  are receiving (resulting in difficulties of taking the blue ribbon), please let me know so that I can delete them and they can try again.   Also, if you have not kmailed me or emailed me to inform me that the additional assignments have been completed, please do so.

In regards to 8th grade graduation, please refer to the flyer again that will be held in Manteca on June 7th at 11:30.  Hope to see you all there.  Maybe we can get our first and last picture together! J

I just wanted to check in to see how everyone is doing.  You’ve all done a fabulous job this year and know we can do it for just another week or so.  We’re in the home stretch…this is what I keep telling myself! ;)

Again as always, if you need anything, please just contact me.  Thanks.

Weeks 3 & 4 (4/22- 5/3):  200 minutes

Weeks 5 & 6 (5/6-5/17):  200 minutes

PE Log

Quarter 4 – PE Log

On Friday, May 24 at 5pm, Quarter 4 PE logs will be reviewed to see if the Q4 requirement has been met thus far.  They will be printed on May 24th to include in students’ work records.  Please be sure you have it updated and accurate by Friday, May 24th.

1.  Log into www.cavaparent.org

2.  Select Physical Education > Logs

3.  Select Quarter Four

4.  Select Add New

5.  Select the 2 week block you would like to enter minutes for.

6.  Select the activity you would like to enter.  You can also click on Next at the bottom for more activities.

7.  Select the amount of time you would like to enter for that activity for the 2 week period.  Hint:  If you enter 3.5 hours, that will cover the full 200 minutes for the 2 week block.  This is especially good if your student does the same thing each day (ex. rides their bike for 20 minutes).

8.  Select Add.  At the top of the page you will see the total minutes entered for the 2 week block.  See below for the total number of minutes needed each two week period.

Minimum minutes needed:

Quarter 4

Weeks 1 & 2 (4/2-4/12): 180 minutes

Weeks 3 & 4 (4/22- 5/3):  200 minutes

Weeks 5 & 6 (5/6-5/17):  200 minutes

Week 7 (5/20-5/24):  100 minutes

If you need any help, please let me know BEFORE FRIDAY so that I can help you!

Scantron needs to be completed today

Hello Families!

I have just heard report from Cava and it seems as though we only have 20% of our class that has completed the Spring Scantron.  I know many of you have tried and had some tech issues last week. I finally heard back from the Scantron dept and they referred me to the attached self-help document.  Please refer to this as you take Scantron again today.  Remember, your student is only taking the READING and MATH.  If this is not done in the next few days, an in person is going to have to take place.  I will be no longer in Modesto so this may get a bit tricky.  I don’t want this to affect report cards so if we can work on getting this done as soon as possible, that would be great.  Remember you are logging into

www.edperformance.com

and using your Site Id number (with dashes)

97-7134-7540

as well as student ID number.  Please remember also to be using Firefox.

Last week for physical work samples

Good morning!

I just wanted to send a friendly reminder that work samples (one from math, language, science, and history) are due by tomorrow (Friday).  If you have already mailed them, thank you.  I’ve received quite a bit this week.  As far as the additional assignments, please just email those to me in regards to the results of the science investigation, composition, history (assessment answers), Math (assessment answers).

We’re in the homestretch.  Please ensure today that ALL attendance is updated.  The final report will be sent off tomorrow morning.  I would also recommend that you go in and update all PE logs for quarter 4 as well.  I will be printing these out as well. As many of you know, you can enter in minutes in advance.  Please ensure to be looking at the middle school report card again to ensure you cover all basis in regards to what is expected on the rubric.

Continue to work on Study Island and if you can get past some of the kinks in Scantron, please work on that.  I’ve been in touch with Scantron and am waiting on a reply.

Thanks so much.

Scantron Troubleshoot ideas

Good morning!

It seems as though some families are having a hard time logging into Scantron.  I’m not sure if you are cutting and pasting but it’s best to hand type the site id number and student id number.  I have just logged in to Scantron as a few students and it worked.  Cutting and pasting may be the issue.  You must also keep the dashes in.

Site Id –

I hope this helps.  If it still doesn’t work, you may want to manually place the Scantron address in the url.  www.edperformance.com

Thanks,

Christie Louis
