Study Island - PLEASE READ

Good afternoon Learning Coaches & Students!

This email is to inform you that I have gone into every student’s Study Island account and deleted the blue ribbon assignments that had scored either a Below Basic (B) or Far Below Basic (FBB) in all subject areas.  I have done this so that the students can go back in and retake those assessments so that they can indeed  earn their blue ribbons.  Please note how crucial Study Island is as these are the grade level standards your child needs to know in order to be prepared for state testing.

Additionally, a portion of your child’s report card will reflect what has been done in Study Island.  If your child started with Cava on August 16, 2012, the following blue ribbon totals are where your child should be:

6th grade – 27 blue ribbons

7th grade – 30 blue ribbons

8th grade – 52 blue ribbons.

If you are a late entering student I will be taking the date you started and calculating how many blue ribbons need to be completed in order to meet the requirement of 75% (on the report card).

As we approach the end of our Study Island blue ribbon challenge (emailed out about a week ago), you may be wondering how to find out how many blue ribbons your student has earned.  Here are the directions.

*After you log in to Study Island click on the green plus sign next to your grade level.  You can see all of the assignments.

* If you count up how many topics have been passed, that will give you the number of blue ribbons earned.  You can see that this student has 6 blue ribbons right now, out of a possible 23.

I hope this helps as you and your student work towards your goals.

8th grade reminder: PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE BLUE RIBBONS IN MATH, LANGUAGE ARTS, SCIENCE, AND HISTORY.

Please also take note of the Middle School Grading Scale as this is the guideline for semester 1 (ending January 17th) report cards.  Please also take note of the writing requirements for each subject.  This is where your “additional required assignments” stem from.

If you need help with any of this or are stuck on a blue ribbon or anything for that matter, please contact me and we will work together on this. J
