Updates:
OLS Summer Access
Families (and teachers) who have been with CAVA for several years may have become accustomed to courses remaining on the online school throughout the summer allowing access to unfinished lessons. Please be aware that on or around June 25th all courses that have been completed (80% progress or better), or a course that the student will not be continuing in the fall, will be removed from the online school. If a student is significantly behind in a course and needs to continue in that course next school year or if they are working above grade level and the course is not complete, those courses will remain on the online school with continued access.
Also, please understand, that while families will have access to the course through June 25th, only the progress entered on or before June 11th will be used for report cards. Any progress entered between June 11th and June 25th will be optional and not counted for any academic credit.
Common Core Presentation
On Monday, March 18th, K12 held a live presentation for Learning Coaches on the Common Core Standards and how K12 is addressing the changes that these new standards present for each state. Re-Registration SY 2013-2014 .
We had our first Re-Registration office-hour session on April 2nd. This is a great resource for both teachers and families. Office Hours will be held every Tuesday in April, from 3:00 to 3:30pm.

Re-Registration – Weekly Family Incentive Drawing! Each week we will be drawing a random name from all the families that have updated their re-registration status. Winners will receive a $20 Barnes and Noble gift card, courtesy of K12. If you haven’t already done so, please re-register today! The earlier you update it, the more chances you will have to win. Results are also announced on our CAVA Facebook page each week.

April is National Poetry Month, and K12 is pleased to announce the first annual K12 Poetry Contest!
The theme for this first contest is Animals in Poetry. An eblast went out this week directly from K12 to all families, but you can get the full K¹² Poetry Contest rules, details, and entry form here.
Scantron (3rd-8th grade only)
The spring Scantron Performance Series testing window will open on Monday, May 13th.
Study Island
Please continue to work on Study Island if you have not yet earned your assigned grade level blue ribbons to ensure that any remaining ribbons are earned prior to the last day of school. This is especially important for our middle school students, as their blue ribbons are counted as part of their middle school grades.

“Why do I need to learn this?” If you’ve ever not known how to answer this question, this is the session for you! CAVA teacher and previous Algebra teacher, Ronni Peck, will share with you the answers to this ever prevalent question from inquisitive students.
