Good morning and Happy Monday!
I just wanted to send out a BIG invitation to ALL of my students this year to attend the 8th grade graduation. I’d love to see you ALL one last time (maybe we can get a class picture) before the end of the year. Although this is an 8th grade graduation, I will also be handing out some other awards as well (not necessarily for just 8th graders). All teachers will be handing out 2 Cava Gold awards. This award will be given to students who have had excellent attendance, PE logs (updated), on target progress, complete work samples, all around basically etc. Additionally, we will be handing out Study Island awards for those students who have completed their ribbons 100% (although this would be a bit different for those that started late). For those that will be receiving an award, I will be contacting you today.
I HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE…I’ve attached the graduation flyer again for your convenience.
Also, below are some Q and As that some of you may have….take a look! J
Here is an FAQ about the OLS, CAVA and the end of the year/summer. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
When is the last day of school?
June 11, 2013
What is the first day of the 13/14 school year?
CAVA’s first day is August 12, 2013.
How long will my student’s current courses be available on the OLS?
All current courses, including world language courses, will be removed from the OLS on June 26, 2013. Students may continue completing lessons until that date. However, any progress after June 11, will not be reflected on student report cards.
When and how do I return this year’s materials?
On or around June 11th, you will receive a reclamations packet from K12 that includes a letter with the course material return instructions and prepaid UPS return labels. This packet will be both mailed and emailed. Please keep in mind:
· It is ok if the box of returned materials weighs more than the 11 lbs printed on the return label.
· Learning coaches can log into MyInfo at any time for details on which materials will need to be returned.
· You may wait to return any materials you are still using until you are finished using them!
What about Study Island?
Study Island will be open all summer and students will have access to all grade levels. This means that your student can take a look at next year’s content standards or review concepts from their current grade level or a lower grade level. studyisland.com Login remains the same: studentID#@cava/cava
In August, students’ Study Island accounts will be reset and students’ 13/14 grade levels will be locked. Any blue ribbons earned during summer will not roll-over.
What about my student’s report card?
Report cards will be snail mailed to your home address on June 14, 2013. Included will be a hard copy of your student’s Scantron score report.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me! Thanks so much! Hope to see you there Friday!
