What’s Your Story? – This month K¹² introduced a new website dedicated to sharing family SUCCESS stories! K¹² wants to hear how students have blossomed and lives have been transformed by being a part of the K¹² family. Submitted stories will be entered into a contest – some of the prizes include a Kindle Fire HD, or an Amazon gift card. The deadline for entries is March 31, 2013, and the final day to vote is April 7, 2013. The sooner you submit your story, the more votes you can get. Enter your story today!

K¹² Military Families – Many military families have found that schooling with K¹² fits their unpredictable lifestyles. This month, K¹² added a new layer of support to this honored and very much appreciated group of families by offering them their own community on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/K12MilitaryFamilies). Military families (and friends) are encouraged to join the community to help support each other, share out resources and ideas, and take part in ongoing discussion.

K¹²Clubs – It’s not too late to sign up for a K¹² Club! So far, approximately 20,000 students across the country have already joined in on the fun! Clubs cover a wide variety of topics and are targeted at specific ages and grade levels, so there’s something for everyone. New clubs continue to be added, including a student-lead club called Hungry for Change that was started by some of our very own CAVA high school students! We are so proud to see our CAVA students taking their passions to the national level and sharing out with others. Capitol Day – This month, CAVA families were encouraged to sign up to participate in Capitol Day with the California Parents for Public Virtual Education (CPPVE). Each year, CPPVE hosts Capitol Day in Sacramento to give families a chance to interact with legislators, share stories, and advocate for their children’s education! Capitol Day is on March 6 this year, and it’s not too late to register: http://www.calvirtualed.org/take-action/capitol-day/. Come, and let your voice be heard!

Attention High School Students! K¹²wants to hear from students just like you so we can make your high school program the best it can be! Wanted: Outings Photos – Did you attend a fun outing or other CAVA event? Please send your photos to Cynthia Tkalec at ctkalec@caliva.org or post directly to our CAVA Facebook page at www.k12.com/cavafb! Please also pass the photos along to the homeroom teacher so they can be displayed in the next Monday Homeroom session. Kids love to see themselves on the screen, so let’s show some school spirit and let them see all the fun things we have going on! Remember, a signed photo release must be on file with the homeroom teacher for a photo to be displayed.

Online Information Sessions – Did you know that CAVA hosts live online High School, and K-8, information sessions? Online events are a perfect introduction to virtual public education. Available as on-demand sessions or live Q&A and general information, these events can be accessed anywhere an Internet connection can be found!
